James Brown and Kustom Engineering

James Brown, Chief Engineer at Kustom® Engineering is known among amp junkies as one of the important modern amp developers. James taught at University of Southern Mississippi for a couple years, wrote a textbook, "Experiments in Electronic Devices and Circuits" and began designing amps at Peavey®. During his 18 years there, he made his lofty place among amplification engineers as the lead engineer of such noted amps as the EVH 5150®,Triple XXX® and the JSX™ for Joe Satriani. James was also a member of the team that designed the Classic® 50, Classic 30, DeltaBlues™ and the original TransTube® amplifier line. James holds 12 patents and "a handful of MMR and M&S Retailer awards". Currently leading the way at Kustom Amplification, James has developed Kustom's well respected Coupe® series and the new Double Cross® high gain all-tube head.

The Force is strong with James' support cast! In addition to the Kustom Groove Bass® amplifier line and John Moyer's Signature cabinets and amplifiers, other Kustom Engineers have cumulatively been involved with noteworthy projects like, Crate®: Blue Voodoo™ guitar heads; Ampeg®: SVT™ vintage reissue units and SVTPRO™ series units, including the Billy Sheehan preamp (SVPBSP™); Peavey: Classic 120/120, Classic 50/50, TKO®115, TNT®115, Combo®115, Combo210, MkIII™ , MkVI™ XP and MkVIII™ XP.
